Back in the early 2010s, Sally Adee, then an editor at New Scientist Magazine , went to a DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) conference and heard about a way to speed up learning with something called trans-cranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). A couple of years later, Sally found herself wielding an M4 assault rifle to pick off simulated enemy combatants with a battery wired to her temple. But that got then-producer Soren Wheeler thinking about this burgeoning world of electroceuticals, and if real, what limits will it reach.
For this episode, first aired back in 2014, we brought in Michael Weisend, then a neuroscientist at Wright State Research Institute, to tell us how it works (Bonus: you get to hear Jad get his brain zapped). And sat down with Peter Reiner and Nick Fitz, then at the University of British Columbia, to help us think through the consequences of a world where anyone with 20 dollars and access to a circuit board and a soldering iron, can make their own brain zapper. And then checked-in again to hear about the unexpected after-effects a day of super-charged sniper training can have on one mild-mannered science journalist.

Jair Bolsonaro protagonizou, pelo menos, três incidentes de raiva nesta quinta-feira (18). O mais recente ocorreu em sua live semanal, durante a qual ele desrespeitou um assessor.
O presidente reagiu a uma correção feita enquanto ele lia um decreto desta semana, que reduziu imposto sobre suplementos nutricionais.
“Fica na tua aí. Eu perguntei alguma coisa para vocês? Eu perguntei alguma coisa?”, gritou Bolsonaro.
O assessor estava correto. O presidente afirmou que a alíquota fora zerada, mas, na verdade, como disse o assessor, ela foi reduzida para 4%. O primeiro dos outros dois incidentes desta quinta-feira ocorreu pela manhã, quando Bolsonaro conversava com apoiadores diante do Palácio da Alvorada.
Um youtuber se aproximou do grupo e começou a provocar o presidente, chamando-o de “tchutchuca do Centrão”. Bolsonaro, então, o segurou pelo braço e tentou tirar o celular da mão dele.
O segundo episódio de raiva aconteceu pela tarde, em evento de campanha em São José dos Campos, no interior de São Paulo.
Enquanto conversava com a imprensa, Bolsonaro gritou contra um membro de sua equipe por supostamente ter encostado nele. “Ninguém bota a mão em mim!”, afirmou três vezes.

Ainda durante o evento, o petista voltou a fazer acenos a religiosos.
"A gente tem que olhar a Constituição e ela tem que ser cumprida, tem que olhar a declaração universal dos direitos humanos e ela tem ser cumprida, e a gente tem que olhar a Bíblia e ela tem que ser cumprida. Todos nós somos irmãos, somos filhos de Deus, e temos direito de viver com muita dignidade e com muito respeito", disse.
